WordPress announced today that their 13th major release – WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious” is now available for download or upgrade within your wordpress dashboard so I went on upgrading all my wordpress powered blogs including this one.
First thing I’ve noticed after installation is the new default theme – TwentyTen, a much better looking theme than the Kubrick inspired former default theme.
WordPress 3.0 also features a lighter interface with help options on all screens within the admin dashboard and the bulk upgrade of plugins within a click.
The new theme system will require wordpress theme developers to acquire APIs that will let them easily implement custom backgrounds, headers, shortlinks, menus (no more file editing), post types, and taxonomies.
Watch the video provided by the WordPress team for further details:

In the past, WordPress supported two very broad types of content types: Posts and Pages. In the 3.0 version, a new feature called “Custom Post Types” allows users to create any kind of content type and define its attributes. For instance, if you post a lot of videos, you can now create a new content type tailored specifically to deliver video content.
I like it. It seems like it can make wordpress designs a lot more custom to fit the needs and demands of your site. Anyone who has already upgraded have any feedback?
will this version supports previous themes…. ???? previous one doesnt…
