Search engine giant and mobile phone industry new player Google Inc. will close their online store that it particularly set up for its Nexus One phone.

The announcement was made Friday night which is a sign of its failure in attempting to create a new trend in the mobile industry sales.

When the so-called super phone was released last January, Google Inc. tried establishing an online store, with it being the only place where people can buy the Nexus One phone but it failed as people still favor the traditional way of buying phone, going to a retailer and have a hands-on experience first before buying.

“As with every innovation, some parts worked better than others,” Andy Rubin, a Google executive overseeing the Nexus One, wrote in a Friday blog post.

Rubin said Google will stop selling the Nexus One in its Web store as soon as it lines up other U.S. retailers to carry the device.

Search industry giant Google goes into the growing popularity of social networks by showing tweets and Facebook updates into its search results.

The new feature was launched last Monday allowing results to be sorted by when they were posted online, which puts more emphasis on new content such as news articles, blog postings and Wikipedia updates.

However, updates coming from social network sites like facebook will only be visible if they make their account publicly viewable. The new feature called “Real Time Search” inked partnerships between facebook and myspace to pull in data real time.

The Chinese government recently announced their latest campaign which targets websites that contains or being used to access vulgar pornographic content.

The authorities named 19 websites which includes Google and the China’s top used search engine Baidu. They have warned these sites to clean up their content or else their websites will be closed down.

“We will continue to expose, punish or close down websites that have a lot of vulgar content,” said one official, Cai Mingzhao, speaking on Chinese Central Television.

The new campaign is being co-ordinated by a total of seven government ministries.
