When I moved to my place here in Pasay last December of 2007, the fastest way for me to have an internet connection is thru Smart Bro. I applied for an acount in SM Mall of Asia and after 24 hours, guys from Smart came and installed it. It was really quick.
For more than a year, I have been using smart bro and experienced hours of downtime or almost days of no connection at all so I decided to go for a PLDT DSL connection. It took me nearly 2 months before it was installed. I have to call PLDT several times to follow-up.
Now I have them both and I am not thinking of cutting any as I am reserving each in case one has no connectivity. In terms of speed, seems like Smart Bro is way behind PLDT myDSL, here’s a speedtest I took moments ago.

Being honest, I’ve had slower speeds using mobile internet although I cant say I’ve experienced blackouts for more than a few hours.
It is very annoying when the coverage advertised is nothing like you get when you purchase.
Broadband internet these days are getting much faster and cheaper too. ;:.
The speed of internet via broadband depends on the server where the bandwiths are from. For example smartbro has main server satellites in Las pinas and Greenhills. If you are away from the satellites, dont expect to have fast speed using smartbro. You will normally experience slow upload and downloads, because your packets will be delivered not completed, ping is high and the jitters.
That’s what I know and Experienced.
