NTC Plans To Require Pinoy Online Content Creators A License

Internet

WTF? The NTC or National Telecommunications Commission seems to be out of their mind thinking of forcing Filipinos to have their license first before adding a content or publishing an information in the internet.

According to this document (I don’t know who the hell created this, he should be the first to pay when it’s implemented..lol) – http://portal.ntc.gov.ph:9081/wps/_mc/MC2009/electronic_games.html, this will be the fees:

a. Filing Fee : PhP 300.00

b. Annual Registration Fee: 6,000.00

c. Surcharge for late : 50% of the annual registration fee if application

filing of application is filed within six (6) months from date of expiry

for renewal 100% if filed after six (6) months from date of expiry

In that BS document, you’ll come up with a broad explanation of a “content developer” that includes blogging, commenting, posting pictures, uploading ringtones, and the likes, wherein the person doing it have to secure a license first. Imagine millions of Filipino youtube users, millions of friendster, myspace and facebook members lining up in the NTC office trying to secure a permit, that’s horrible and very unacceptable….lol

I’d like to call the attention of all my online pals in this issue, the memorandum could have noted somehow that the license will be required only if the content is posted for profit, but their explanation of content developers is too broad that might turn out into something undesirable sooner or later. We shouldn’t let this one pass or have it revised for others sake.

They say the proposal needs “further study”. That’s putting it mildly. :P

Naghahanap lng yan ng mga mapagkakakitaan. Their proposal is totally non-sense. Naghihirap na nga ang mga Pinoy gusto pa nila lalong mahirapan.

  4. Oh wow, that’s terrible! I really hope that doesn’t happen, I’ve made a lot of Fillipino friends online and would miss them! That would be something like $130 US, which is a pretty big chunk to pay, especially if you’re not a full-time blogger but just someone who likes to write or make friends online.

Here in the US there’s always talk of things on how they plan to censor our freedom of speech…but I really think the internet is one place where you should be able to say whatever you want.
