I used to be a loyal Firefox user for the past couple of years but due to recent crashes that I encountered, I have decided to move to Google Chrome last week and I am happy to say that I did the right thing. Google Chrome loads faster than any other browser I have tried and with many extensions now available, it’s time for everyone else to switch.
As an seo consultant, one of the main thing I’d like for a browser is a quick tool that will help me with my work. Good thing that there’s the Chrome SEO developed by Sean Bannister. This tool provides easy access to a search engine optimization tool that will help guys like me with competitive analysis, keyword research, backlink checks, pagerank checks and other seo tasks.
- Chrome SEO Extension – feature includes keyword research, highlighting of no follow links, number of pages indexed, amount of backlinks, current traffic and rankings, social bookmark counts, cached versions of the page, domain details, traffic graphs and detection of robots.txt and sitemap.xml
Another part of my work as seo consultant is checking the keyword ranking of my clients’ website against their competitors. The first extension that I have mentioned don’t have this functionality but the SEO SERP extension developed by Omiod does. Using it, you can compare list of websites within a given keyword.
- SEO SERP – you can check positions of website in Google search within the following countries: com, brazil, india, japan, uk, germany, spain, france, italy, netherland, south africa, ireland, russia, china, poland, hungary, el salvador, australia, canada
Another extension I really like is the Explain and Send Screenshots wherein I can take screenshot of any webpage I am viewing and add captions in the same tab without using any photo editing software.
- Explain and Send Screenshots – Take full or partial screenshots of webpages, add arrows, circles, annotations and send it to someone with its built-in gmail, yahoo, hotmail and outlook options.
And who wouldn’t want to turn off the lights when you’re watching a video? Thanks Stefan VD for creating the Turn Off The Lights extension that fades the entire page to dark when watching videos, a cinematic experience indeed.
- Turn Off the Lights – with one click of the lamp button in your browser bar, the page will turn dark and with another click, it goes back to normal.
Isn’t those extensions cool? Download Google Chrome now and add an extension that suits your needs.

I always thought chrome extensions are more like userscripts and Stylish scripts. I’m probably wrong but I won’t be changing to Chrome anytime soon. I am just into Firefox and would like to stick to it. Firefox gives me what I am looking for in terms of customization. Everyone uses their browser in a different way, and Chrome just can’t replace some of my favorite addons in firefox.
yes, google chrome is better than any other browser.
Google Chrome is by far the fastest browser to date. But I think it needs more development. Especially when dealing with Flash. I noticed a small performance drop when playing Flash games and watching movies.
