Interesting Facts From The Archives
Posted: October 24th, 2008 | Author: admin | Filed under: Internet, Web Development | Tags: friendster, google 2001, youtube | 3 Comments »As Google celebrates their 10th year anniversary, they have released this 2001 version of their search, which contains some cool searches in it.
Here’s a couple that I tried:
Search Engine Optimization has only 108,000 results in 2001 compared to 30 million as of today. Seems like every nation’s law should support birth control now.
No online money maker stays long at the top from 2001 up to 2008 for the keyword make money online. Therefore, I should change my make money online tag to the poorest guy in the web, that might make some history…lol
Oh btw, because of this archiving thing released by Google, I thought of checking two of the most visited sites in the Philippines, friendster and youtube in the web archive.
Do you know that Youtube seems to be a dating site rather than a video sharing site?
And friendster isn’t as friendly as we thought coz you have to get an invitation code to get inside? Weird but true during their beta days…
Anyway, those were the good old days. Internet is now part of our daily lives and I’m very thankful that it’s getting better leaving us with fruitful contents as days pass by.

Doh! I’m too late, looks like it’s not working anymore. I wonder if google will still be about to celebrate its 20th birthday?

ha, i didn’t believe you on the youtube thing, so i went and checked myself…sure enough, back in april 2005 it was like that! But in June it had already changed to be a video site. And it’s still JUST april 28th 2005 that has that “im male seeking blah blah…” as it also has april 29th 2005 in there and that part is gone. Strange…wonder why that was ever there.
