Search engine giant and mobile phone industry new player Google Inc. will close their online store that it particularly set up for its Nexus One phone.
The announcement was made Friday night which is a sign of its failure in attempting to create a new trend in the mobile industry sales.
When the so-called super phone was released last January, Google Inc. tried establishing an online store, with it being the only place where people can buy the Nexus One phone but it failed as people still favor the traditional way of buying phone, going to a retailer and have a hands-on experience first before buying.
“As with every innovation, some parts worked better than others,” Andy Rubin, a Google executive overseeing the Nexus One, wrote in a Friday blog post.
Rubin said Google will stop selling the Nexus One in its Web store as soon as it lines up other U.S. retailers to carry the device.
