I managed to watch the live streaming event via the Google Youtube Channel.

Aside from that,I was following tweets of several seo experts earlier for their reactions and found some that gave me some laugh…

Danny Sullivan: tw gives me twitter, than twilight. see, google knows i’m not a teenage girl.

Social networking giant Facebook now considers changing their privacy settings after a huge number of complaints from its users.

According to BBC, Facebook told them that a number of users cried that their current privacy made things too complex.

“We’re working on responding to these concerns. Watch this space,” a Facebook statement said.

This is in response to the changes they made towards the end of 2009 that gained criticism from both government organizations and users as it states that social networkers didn’t need to be accepted as a “friend” to see personal information such as photos, videos and even wall posts. The only way to ensure content on your profile was not shared with other members was to opt-out.

Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes said that they had a productive discussion where comments were made and questions were asked and answered during their crisis meeting last week.

Facebook users started experiencing a new feel while using the most popular social community in the world since last Friday as Facebook management restructures their news feeds wherein users can now toggle view between a main view, featuring the top stories from their friends list based on their Facebooking habits, and a “live feed” featuring real-time updates from the whole network.

“When the user wakes up in the morning, you go to Facebook and you see [the] news feed,” product manager Peter Deng told CNET News. “You see the stuff that you missed, the best of the previous day, to basically catch you up on what your friends have been up to.”

Yahoo Inc. revamps their search engine despite the recent Microsoft deal showing signs of competing against Bing, Microsoft’s latest search innovation that was reported to grab a fraction of the search market share last month.

“We are Yahoo and that will continue…We collaborate on the back-end but we are competitors on the front-end,” Prabhakar Raghavan, a senior vice president of Yahoo said.

Last July, Microsoft and Yahoo signed a 10-year deal under which search on Yahoo’s websites will be generated by Microsoft’s new Bing search engine.

There was also a recent announcement about Yahoo’s newest mail interface that has a social networking feature and a new face on their messenger.

Last August 24, in an event in their Sunnyvale (California) headquarters, Yahoo unveiled a new design for its email service with with updates that will let its users merge their inboxes with other internet services like sending out invitations thru Evite or organize photos with Xoopit (Yahoo acquired this already) without leaving the Yahoo mail interface.

A social networking feature ala Twitter micro-blogging service was also rolled out and is now available to US users and soon to the whole world.

This developments are signs of Yahoo working to defend their position as the top email service provider but the questions are, will it work? Twitter is an established micro-blogging network already and there have been many copycats that tried to take them out but wasn’t successful. For organizing photos, there is Google’s Picasa which is truly wonderful (that’s my opinion) and a lot more popular photo organizing sites such as Photobucket.

I will wait til the service comes to the Philippines and let’s see how those features will work inside a web mail interface.

Twitter is bringing easy geo-tagging to its popular micro-blogging service which might give possible ways for them to make money.

Twitter Co-founder Biz Stone wrote on their blog:

We’re gearing up to launch a new feature which makes Twitter truly location-aware. A new API will allow developers to add latitude and longitude to any tweet. Folks will need to activate this new feature by choice because it will be off by default and the exact location data won’t be stored for an extended period of time. However, if people do opt-in to sharing location on a tweet-by-tweet basis, compelling context will be added to each burst of information.

Third party developers like Germany’s Twibble have already produced geo-location services for Twitter relying on user details in their profiles. Let’s see what Twitter will have to offer on their own.

I was about to check if the futuretweets.com scheduled tweets I set-up last night is working but upon checking twitter.com’s website, it gave me a server error 503.

Twitter Server Error 503

For those who don’t know what HTTP 503 error means, it is the standard HTTP error that says “Service Unavailable.” Some possible reasons to list are:
- a required program has not yet been started on the server or has crashed
- exceeded its monthly bandwidth allowance
- a connection to a database has failed or is misconfigured
- server may be forbidden from giving you the requested document

Twitter is not for sale and it’s confirmed! Today’s most popular micro-blogging and social networking service Twitter is not for sale according to its co-founder Biz Stone. The declaration was made by Stone in an appearance in ABC’s “The View.”

“We’re just getting started as I’ve said. The company is two years old, we have so much to do, so much product stuff to fix, and so much growing to do,” Stone said.

This declaration just placed an exclamation point to the rumors that Google, Inc., Microsoft and Apple Inc. are all interested in acquiring the company. Twitter previously declined a $500 million offer by Facebook.

They are not selling it!

Maybe not for now….
