Asiacenturyph.com Expired

13 July 2008

I have just started using a new local affiliate program ran by asiacenturyph.com few weeks ago and haven’t earned from them yet. I was attracted by the banners they have in their arsenal, looks profitable if your blog/site gets Philippine traffic.

Earlier, while checking my affiliate panel with them, I came up to a parked page. For those who don’t know what a parked page is, that is a way of monetizing a domain name without the need of populating it with content.

I immediately refreshed my browser several times to see if I’m missing something but the parked page shows up again and again. Upon checking their whois record, I noticed that the registry was updated July 12, 2008 so I came up with a conclusion that the domain asiacenturyph.com has just expired last July 10, 2008 and the owner forgot to renew it immediately that’s why it redirected to a parking page while waiting to be renewed or deleted. Then I took a screenshot wherein I have noticed in the upper left of the image this text:

“This domain name expired on July 10, 2008. Click here to renew it.”

This made me think twice… should I still use their affiliate program? What if they forgot to pay me with my hard earned money? Nuh, let’s see! I’d leave their ads running in my sidebar and few other local sites and see what happens. I’ll surely give an update in the future.

Btw, here’s a screenshot from rgbconnections:

Yeah, I saw this one, too. But later today I received an e-mail from them : “Dear Gemma
You might have notice that some of our ads have not been showing during the weekend or that you might have had a problem with the login on our website at http://www.asiacenturyph.com We would like to apologize for that and make sure that this will not happen again.

It seems that when they updated our record on the date of the renewal, some dns servers have not been updated from pldt and globe. Most people have had no problem, but to make sure you do not suffer any lose from not getting sign ups or leads, we will add 150 pesos to the payment of your account this month.

    Best regards,

Good to see that they were so prompt fixing the problem, but then again, how can anyone who is serious about their business let a domain expire?
